During the time right after the end of WWI the demand of crops was “going down”. This was because the war meant that the agriculture industry made a drastic increase of production and sale due to the war needing to feed all of the solders on both sides at first and on the allied power’s side later on. The Gargantuan nature of the business due to the war effort increased the production of crops so when the war ended the left-over crops in the field because of the prediction of continued mass sale had to be discarded as there was much too many crops to sell based on the demand of those crops basically had to be thrown away as they didn't have the market to sell them so they were suddenly under massive stress because they had this product that they couldn't sell
