During this period many people were laid off and that men they couldn’t pay for thing and this caused the Downward Spiral. The Downward Spiral is basically a loop of unemployment- poverty and not being able to buy processed goods- factories losing money - layoffs and finally ending in the factories closing a cycle that wont break. this made many people poorer and unemployed so they wanted to “get [themselves] out of this loop” so they can once more live comfortably. this loss of employment was enough to make many people need to go to the soup kitchens and drove the job market to be much more competitive due to the lack of open job positions. Many people remained unemployed and it was much harder for women and people of color to attain jobs compared to the white man.
